What To Watch (Not) 9/16/22

There are some interesting movies out there this weekend. In theaters we have the already controversial Marilyn Monroe biopic Blonde (it comes to Netflix at the end of the month); the lysergic David Bowie documentary Moonage Daydream (suitable for IMAX); a hair-raising suspense drama called God’s Country that I saw and liked at Sundance; and, going wide after last week’s opening, the brawny Viola Davis historical epic The Woman King (which I saw and loved in Toronto). On demand, there’s a new Fletch movie that no one was expecting, called Confess, Fletch,” available at premium prices and starring Jon Hamm, while one of the better-reviewed foreign-language films of 2022, Croatia’s Murina,” comes to the Kino Now platform. (All title hyperlinks are to trailers.)

I will weigh in on some of these next week. For now, I am fried from wall-to-wall moviegoing in Toronto and am taking a few days of downtime. You will simply have to content yourself with a photo of Bodhi appearing to drive a golf cart.
